Team
As a Chemical Engineer (ULg, Liège), Pascal Briol was involved in Project Engineering and Production activities as Project Engineer, Process Specialist, Project Manager, Production Manager and Head of Engineering Office. Involved in every step of a project life; Research & Development, conceptual Engineering, bankable feasibility study Engineering, detailed Engineering, construction, commissioning, start-up, production follow-up and optimization. Pascal is expert in process modeling (own mass balance software “PBSIM” – Process Balance SIMulation). With 35 years of Engineering/Production expertise (26 years in Zinc business), in 2016, Pascal created PBSIM Engineering, a Belgium-based consulting company. As a consultant, he worked on zinc projects in Europe, South Africa, South America and Asia.
Geert Trappeniers has an MSc in Geology (KUL, Leuven). He has worked as an exploration geologist in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He was operations manager and general manager of gold and diamond mining projects in Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2004, Geert founded Skapto, a Belgium-based geological consulting and exploration services company. With Skapto , he completed diamond, precious and base metals exploration projects in Central and West Africa, Turkey, Europe and North America. Together with Noël Masson, he founded zinc exploration company WalZinc.

As a metallurgical engineer (ULB, Brussels) Noël Masson was responsible for Research & Development at Vieille Montagne, Belgium’s most important zinc miner in modern times. In this position, he developed several innovative methods for the processing of various types of zinc ores and for the production of zinc oxides. Noël later became CEO of Vieille Montagne and when this company merged with Union Minière, he became CEO of Union Minière. He later became Executive Director of Reunion mining and Executive chairman of ZincOx, developing the Skorpion (Namibia), Shairmerden (Kazakhstan) and Jabali (Yemen) Zn-mines. Noël was the first chairman of IZA: International Zinc Association and was in charge of missions for the World bank to define the mining strategy of several African Countries.
